We process personal information to let families record and find burial sites: mobile numbers, names and isibongo, GPS coordinates and place descriptions, photographs and voice notes, stories, and family relationships.
We rely on your consent, given when you sign up. Some information is special personal information or concerns deceased persons and cultural or religious practice; by consenting you agree to us processing it for the purpose above. You may withdraw consent (see your rights below).
Burial-site records are private to your family by default and visible to family members according to each record’s privacy setting. Photographs and voice notes are stored in our object storage. Your mobile number is shared with our SMS provider only to deliver sign-in codes and invitations.
Access is protected by per-request database Row-Level Security, session authentication, temporary signed links for media, and transport encryption. We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose above or as the law requires.
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your information, object to processing, or withdraw consent, by contacting the Information Officer. Withdrawing consent may mean you can no longer use the platform.
The platform is intended for adults acting on behalf of their families. Information about children is processed only with the consent of a competent person.
If you believe your information has been mishandled, you may complain to the Information Officer or to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
